Kent Jones
Professor Emeritus
Dr. Jones received his PhD in international economics from the Graduate Institute HEI at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and began his career at Babson College in 1982. He became Professor Emeritus in 2023. His main academic interests included trade policy and trade institutions, especially the World Trade Organization, publishing seven books and monographs on these topics, along with numerous academic journal articles, book chapters, and reviews. He held the Kevern Joyce and Robert E. Madden term chairs and was a Babson Research Scholar from 2013-2022. In retirement, he continues his research on trade policy and pandemic agreements.
His teaching career focused on microeconomics and international economic courses, and he was a member of the major curriculum reform committee that integrated the MBA program during the 1990s. His teaching also included visiting appointments at the Brandeis University, the Fletcher School at Tufts University, and the University of Innsbruck, Austria. In addition, he served as a visiting senior economist at the U.S. Department of State.
In addition to serving as chair of the Economics Division, Dr. Jones’ service contributions to Babson included (among other appointments) faculty-elected positions on the Appointments Committee and the Graduate and Undergraduate Decision- Making Bodies. In his final two years on the Babson faculty, he served as Associate Dean of Faculty.
